The EASD-Novo Nordisk Foundation awardsProf. J. C. Brüning’s the Diabetes Prize for Excellence 2020 of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) for outstanding contributions to the understanding of metabolic mechanisms in the body. The award is accompanied by DKK 6 million, including DKK 1 million as a personal award and the remaining DKK 5 million for research purposes.

The renowned Prof. Jens Claus Brüning is a German molecular biologist and geneticist. He is Professor of Genetics at the Max-Planck Institute at the University of Cologne and Scientific Coordinator of the Cluster of Excellence CECAD of the Excellence Initiative of the federal and state governments to promote science and research at German universities.
